As of 3rd December 2019, the entire hospital staff knew that I would not be entering the OT until his flight landed in Mumbai and he reached the hospital. When we held our baby for the first time, I wanted my other half by my side. As I saw him, held his hand, and walked away towards bringing the new life into this world, who would ultimately become our world, 'Thank you for being my partner in sleepless nights, changing a diaper, feeding baby, handling toddler tantrums, cleaning the mess, household chores, etc.

When a child is born, the mother is also born, though she has never existed before. A mother is completely new. This journey of motherhood is a new one for me, and I have to say that I am both excited and afraid at the same time. Although I am not sure how it is going to turn out, I am learning and my baby is my teacher.

How can I describe Motherhood in few words?
I still recall my feeling of being on another level when I found out that I was pregnant for the first time on 9th June...because I had prayed so hard for it.
I have no idea where mommy instincts come from. During those nine-month journeys, those tiny moments like ultrasounds of the kick. And finally, when I finally got to hold my baby for the first time. It taught me what it means to live a selfless life. Tears came automatically from my eyes as well when I see her first time.
We can never fully describe motherhood because it's a pure feeling that every woman should experience in her lifetime.

Having a child always makes me anxious. Fortunately, my husband was supportive and told me to wait two years. Due to the Pandemic, we both spent a lot of time working from home together and gained a better understanding of each other. My husband and I started planning for a child after two years of marriage. As a person who is usually anxious, I have taken tests almost every week since we started trying.
One day, I noticed a faint pink line. Thankfully, we did not have to wait long enough. It was hard to tell whether the line was dull or my eyesight was failing. My husband and I withheld our happiness until the doctor confirmed it. When the doctor told me it would mostly be positive, I couldn't control my excitement, but we still waited for test results, and I got a confirmation the next day. It has been the best week of my life, and the best thing about this is that I never imagined that I would be this happy. I felt very comfortable during my pregnancy. During that time, I was always jolly and cheerful. While I was pregnant, I did all exercises to prepare for a natural delivery. But fate had different plans, I was induced and in labor for 48 hours. My baby was around 2 kg and everybody expected the baby would come out soon but the baby decided to come the other way. I had tears rolling down my cheek when the doctor said it was time, we do a c- section as we reached the maximum dosage of medicine for pains. I was strong but not happy. We went into the OT, my husband accompanied us all along. The doctor asked me about expectations and I said baby girl (although I wanted a boy, I was sure it was not going to happen and my instinct told me it was a girl). They started operating on me and after a couple of minutes, the doctor said the baby boy and bought him closer to my face. I was overwhelmed with joy and I couldn't remember anything except the baby's nose. His breathing was rapid so they took him for a check-up and after some time my husband said he needs to be in NICU until the breathing normalizes. For some reason, I was not tensed, my gut told me he would be ok. They stitched me up and moved me to observation. After 4 hours, a nurse brought my baby all wrapped. I ask her to help me hold the baby and the closer I look at him, the more similar he is to me. His cooing sounds and his little and long fingers were so mesmerizing. He was 2.2 kg and I could see all the veins in his body and feel all the bones. He was very tiny. I was shivering (after the effect of anesthesia), nicer brought a warmer and the baby was right behind me. We both slept for straight 4 hours and that's the best sleep of my life.
My baby boy is now 5 months old, all healthy and happy. Tears roll down whenever he smiles at me and recognizes me. I just stare at him for hours when he is sleeping. Now I believe the words " a baby can change you". My husband now thinks of the other baby, but I still can't get over this one and will see if I will write about the other one.

The nutrient folate is extremely important during pregnancy. Sweet potatoes are an excellent source of beta carotene, which your body converts to vitamin A. Cell differentiation and growth are dependent on vitamin A, which helps babies grow and develop.
Avocados are packed with healthy fats, as well as important nutrients like potassium and folate. All of these elements contribute to the growth and development of a fetus. The health benefits of avocados are enormous, making them a great choice for pregnant women.
Greens such as spinach, kale, and other dark leafy vegetables are packed with vitamins and minerals that mothers and their babies need. Additionally, they contain vitamins A, C, K, and E, as well as calcium, iron, fiber, and folate. It prevents birth defects so it's important to consume it.
Dry Fruits and nuts are good sources of calcium, magnesium, potassium, zinc, and selenium. They are also rich in antioxidants and are good at satisfying hunger, making them an excellent snack for expecting mothers. As a source of dietary fiber, dry fruits help prevent constipation during pregnancy.

Both mom and baby require vitamin C during pregnancy. Your baby's teeth, bones, and tissue must have it to develop properly. Vitamin C also aids the body in producing collagen and bone, boosts immunity, and, finally, enhances iron absorption.

First of all, a big salute to all mamas because being a mommy is the toughest job but as well as motherhood is the most beautiful phase of every woman’s life.
My 9 months journey was very comfortable and very smooth. I didn't face any nausea and vomiting issues. All I had to do was only to gain weight because before pregnancy my weight was very low and at the time of delivery it was only 50 kg. I went through with a c- section delivery and gave birth to a beautiful baby boy.
My postpartum experience was very bad. I was alone with my baby. partially people were available there. It was very tough time for me and my husband. I remember those sleepless nights due to too much stress I was unable to sleep. I used to be extremely negative. I cut my self from all my social connections. My behavior was totally change. My husband helped me a lot he used to be calm down me made me stronger and made me realize that I should change the way I am think and the things will change itself. He helped me to find myself slowly I become a happy person. For this I love him so much & Thank you, Team Polka Tots.

In pregnancy it is essential to be careful of the food you eat as it directly affects your body and your baby.
Main mantra of eating during pregnancy is to have a well-balanced diet and to eat small quantities at regular intervals throughout the day to avoid any acidity problems.
Eating habits can change a bit according to your trimester and according to any pregnancy/ health issues you might be facing.
Here are a few things you have to include in your diet at least once a day.
Last but not the least be happy. As a healthy mind and healthy body leads to a healthy baby. Walking regularly and indulging in hobbies is a great way to keep your mind and body healthy.

The last 4 months of my life was completely a new world because I am a mother of a beautiful baby girl now. The journey was very comfortable and I enjoyed my pregnancy days. Those kicks inside were really a lifetime experience. Extreme cravings for sweets, sleepless nights and countless washroom visits are unforgettable. My 9 months were very comfortable and happy. I did not allow myself to be sad on little things but fought well when needed. I did what I wanted to, I did what made me happy. I'm too stronger now than before because her smile makes me stronger day by day, I can do anything for her, now she is my whole heart Thank you so much Polka Tots for giving us chance to explain our journey.

Hello beautiful mommies! As a mother of one year old baby what I feel is that seeing your baby achieving all the milestones one by one gives you an immense pleasure and happiness and in that process, these little ones also teach us never give up attitude. My baby recently turned one and he tries to walk and in the process falls multiple times and sometimes also hurt himself, but he never gives up. He falls, gets up and walks again and by seeing his all these activities I feel I am also growing with him as a person. Motherhood is the best experience anyone can experience because as a mother we not only live our childhood again but also learn so many things from our these little souls .
